Former WCW Manager, Woman/Fallen Angel/Nancy Sullivan & Son Killed by Husband, Chris Benoit

Nancy Sullivan & Chris BenoitThis is, quite possibly, the saddest story that I will ever have to report here. I am still in shock, and have tried to keep this off the site until I could confirm the validity, but as it has already hit the major mainstream news sources, I am now considering it to be fact. Though the story that I am posting is from WWE.com, please remember as you read this that the “Nancy” that they speak of was once one of the great managers/valets in the wrestling world, managing such greats as Kevin Sullivan, Ric Flair, and of course, Chris Benoit. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of everyone involved in this senseless tragedy…

According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.

WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

Not only a sad day for the wrestling world, my friends…a sad day for humanity as a whole.

More News on the Death of “Sensational” Sherri Martel

Sherri MartelLate last week, we reported that the legendary Sensational Sherri had passed away.

After a lengthy investigation, detectives have announced that it is “not a natural death”. Foul play is not suspected at the time. Toxicology tests are currently being run to determine the cause of death.

We’ve also learned that prior to her death, Sherri was working on an autobiography.

Upon hearing about Sherri’s death, the WWE front office had discussions about ending the Vince McMahon Death storyline early, but the final decision was to keep it going. Management also made the decision to cover Sherri’s death on the website and keep it off TV. The reason for keeping it off TV was because Kevin Dunn did not want it to interfere with the McMahon storyline.

Several of the agents are friends with Sherri, so they lobbied hard to get Dunn to change his mind. Michael Hayes, who currently is one of the bigger voices in the back, was able to convince Dunn to change his mind, which is why you saw the quick tribute to Sherri on TV.

On a side note, head Raw writer Brian Gewirtz fought pretty hard to prevent this from happening. He was more concerned with a storyline than he was with doing a tribute to someone who had given so much to the business. That’s pretty disgusting.

We’ll have more on the story as it develops.

RingDivas News: A Short Lived Return for One Ring Diva

Ring DivasMany fans were extremely excited after hearing the news that the fan favorite and All American Girl Next Door Brooke would be returning to in-ring action at the next pay-per-download event. Unfortunately after the card was listed many fans were puzzled that she was not listed on the match listing. Unfortunately Brooke will be unable to return at Capital Punishment as her return was short lived.

Upon returning to the RingDivas Studios Brooke was booked in a match with “The German Giant” Jessicka Havoc where Brooke lasted merely minutes before the German Giant KO’ed her in the middle of the ring. After a long session of being RagDolled and being abused like a play thing Brooke found herself a victim of a brutal attack. The next night upon returning to the studios Brooke was immediately intercepted by the reigning Womens World Champion Empress Sayuri being completely demolished backstage.

A bad night for Brooke to say the least and a short lived return as well.

“Sensational” Sherri Martel Passes Away

Sherri MartelThe following was posted on WWE.com today. The staff of Women’s Wrestling Xposed would like to take this opportunity to send our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Martel. She was truly a legend in this sport, and she will be deeply missed.

WWE is saddened to learn of the death of WWE Hall of Famer “Sensational” Sherri. She was 49.

She passed away at her mother’s home in Birmingham, Ala. Friday morning, according to her husband of 10 years, Robert Schrull.

“It’s a great loss to the wrestling world,” he told WWE.com. The couple resided in St. Petersburg, Fla.

In the early 1980s, Sherri began her career in the AWA. In 1985, she defeated Candi Devine to become the AWA Women’s Champion. Their rivalry lasted more than a year, with the championship trading hands on several occasions.

It was during this time that she began perfecting her skills as a manager, leading “Playboy” Buddy Rose and “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers to the AWA Tag Team Championship. On June 28, 1986, Martel would win the AWA Women’s Championship for a third and final time from Candi Devine.

On July 24, 1987, “Sensational” Sherri debuted in WWE, pinning her trainer and mentor the Fabulous Moolah to become Women’s Champion. Sherri defended the gold against Debbie Combs, Velvet McIntyre, and Desiree Peterson.

She quickly earned the reputation as someone who would do anything to win, even if it meant using unsavory tactics. Her rivalry with Moolah continued as they became the captains for the first-ever female Survivor Series teams in 1989. Sherri held the championship for 15 months before losing to Rockin’ Robin.

In the early ‘90s WWE phased out the Women’s Division, leaving Sherri to focus on managing the male wrestlers. Her first client was “Macho Man” Randy Savage. It was during this time that she became “Sensation Queen.”

The couple had rivals with Miss Elizabeth, Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire. In 1991, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase enlisted her services. After that relationship dissolved, she took on the managerial duties of Shawn Michaels.

In 1994, Sherri appeared in WCW as “Sensuous” Sherri managing Ric Flair during his rivalries with Sting and Hulk Hogan. After separating from Flair, she became “Sister” Sherri guiding Harlem Heat to seven WCW Tag Team Championships.

Sherri was enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase was her presenter.

Indy Diva Alicia Involved in Serious Car Accident

Indy Diva AliciaAlicia, who pretty much is the most dominant female in the NJ area, was involved in a car wreck on Sunday night. Alicia is ok and at home now, but was hospitalized after the crash.

According to Alicia, her car fishtailed while driving home in the pouring rain. The accident was a single-car accident, as Alicia’s steering wheel locked up after fishtailing. Alicia’s car hit a barricade, and actually wound up landing on top of the barricade, ripping open everything underneath the car.

After the accident, three kids who witnessed the accident called the police. Several police officers, firemen & an ambulance responded and helped Alicia away from the accident. Alicia was then rushed to Hackensack hospital for observation.

Several tests and X-rays were ran at the hospital and Alicia was deemed stable. Alicia was given several painkillers and muscle relaxers at the hospital. She was released from the hospital and is currently suffering from several bruises, cuts, a swollen leg & a banged up ear. Obviously, despite having the car totaled beyond repair, Alicia was lucky enough to be able to walk away with minor injuries. She is currently home and resting.

Alicia, who realizes it could’ve been worse, is taking the accident in stride and is lighthearted about it, even telling the one reporter, “Now I know what Danny Demanto feels like when he flips through a chair.”

Due to the accident and her condition, Alicia had to postpone several custom shoots she had lined up. Alicia is not cancelling any indy bookings and will be next appearing at the WSU 6/22 & 6/23 doubleshot weekend shows.

Fans can leave messages for Alicia by visiting her website at Missalicia.com

SHIMMER News: Dave Prazak’s Latest Notebook Entry

SHIMMERAs I explained in my last Notebook entry just a few weeks before the 6/1 & 6/2 tapings, it’s a very hectic time for us at SHIMMER and Ring of Honor. Not only did we just finish up the first ROH pay-per-view, “Respect Is Earned,” (which will begin airing during the month of July, available in over 50 million homes), but we also just finished the biggest weekend in SHIMMER history, and are headed toward taping the second ROH pay-per-view in just under two weeks in Chicago. Plus, one week later, SHIMMER will hold its first show outside of the Chicago area, down in Florida.

Just as ROH is growing, entering into the PPV realm, SHIMMER is also trying to grow in its own ways. Crowning a champion, running live events in a new region, and taping more frequently than we have in the past. Growth by both companies comes with many risks as well.

Since SHIMMER began, I have certainly noticed every time someone has posted on the message board or said to me in person at a show that, “SHIMMER should run more often,” or “SHIMMER should come to my area,” or “SHIMMER should release the DVDs faster.” I’d love to make all three of those things happen, but in all honesty, we can only do those things as much as our success thus far will allow.

Between April 7th and July 1st, a period of three months, we will have filmed five DVD releases, one of which will be a double disc release, so technically six DVDs worth of matches. This is a very ambitious taping schedule, and will hopefully provide you, the fans, with more material from our organization to add to your collection and enjoy.

The question is, how will that taping schedule, and the faster paced DVD release schedule translate in terms of sales? We operated for our first year by filming new DVD material once every three to four months, to test the waters and see how much of a market there is for women’s pro wrestling. We did well in that first year, and here in our second year, are increasing that schedule to see just what the masses are willing to support. We just released Volume 8 on DVD last weekend. We’re finishing up the edit for Volume 9 later this week, and it is scheduled to go on sale roughly two weeks after that.

What it comes down to is, if you want to see SHIMMER and women’s wrestling as a whole grow, and want to see us running more frequently and filming more DVD releases, we need everyone’s support along the way. Be it live event tickets, ordering ClickWrestle match downloads, purchasing each of our DVD releases, or encouraging fellow fans to give SHIMMER a try. We’re doing our best to not only continue to bring to you the top notch product we have thus far, but also to improve that product and provide more of it, as long as the support from you, the fans, is there for us to do so.

It is through your support of our product that we continue to exist as an entity in the world of professional wrestling. We appreciate every dollar you put into keeping us in operation. These next few months are key to SHIMMER’s success. I hope to see everyone located in the southeast down in Inverness on July 1st, and everyone else at ROH along the way.

Thanks everybody!

Great Interview with Michelle McCool from MichelleMcCool.net

Michelle McCoolMichelle McCool gives MichelleMcCool.net an exclusive interview. In it she talks about the Women’s Championship, stereotypes, her first magazine cover, her trusting faith in God, traveling on the road with friends, and so much more!

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, Michelle McCool has been the subject of discussion amongst wrestling fans everywhere. Her recent push, as some may call it, has thrust Michelle into the spotlight, where fans of World Wrestling Entertainment from all around the world, took notice of the small-town girl, hailing from Palatka, Florida. Many are already well-aware that Michelle grew up in a home where wrestling was more than a sport, but a family pastime. A former all-star athlete, fitness and gymnastics competitor, gym instructor, and school teacher, etc… Just about everything Michelle had done prior to becoming a member of the prestigious WWE family, has helped mold her into the success story that she is now.

MichelleMcCool.net has been lucky enough, for the third time, to have Michelle grant us with a rare online Q&A. In this short interview,

Michelle talks about dreams, her future goals, the Women’s Championship, her religious faith in God, being labeled a ‘Diva’ and a ‘Sex-Symbol’, and so much more! And just who watches after Jonah (her Golden Retriever) when she’s on the road? Become Teacher’s favorite pet, and learn more about WWE’s next great Diva!

MichelleMcCool.Net What advice would you give to any fans that might be thinking about becoming a professional wrestler/valet?

Michelle McCool: To go after your dreams because if you don’t, someone else will.

MM.NET: Many of your fans are well aware of your strong Christian faith; do you feel that God is using you, in the place that you’re in?

MM: I always feel like God is using us and gives us opportunities in our life to glorify Him. Not only is this a dream of mine, but hopefully I will be able to make a difference in other people’s lives as a result of this job.

MM.NET: If people didn’t know you, what would you most like them to know about yourself, that someone might not be aware of? MM: I get labeled alot before people ever get to know me. I am a very down-to-earth person. I love to laugh, make other people smile, goof off, dance, etc… I hate when people stereotype others. I try to find the good in everyone (honestly, you can ALWAYS find at least one thing great about everybody)! I live for sports and love the beach!

MM.NET: What is your dream for the future; what would you like to do or accomplish?

MM: I want to become World Wrestling Entertainment Women’s Champion!!!

MM.NET: When you’re on the road, who looks after your Golden Retriever, Jonah?

MM: My parents… He loves the beach – guess he gets that from his Mama!

MM.NET: What is usually running through your mind when you’re making your way down to the ring to perform?

MM: I don’t know…lots of different things, depending on the crowd, where we are, etc..

MM.NET: Not many people may realize, but you’re an active user on the World Wide Web, has this helped you get a feel for what the general fan looks for in their female performers?

MM: Ummm, not sure here. I look at your site (which you do an amazing job on) and on WWE.com, but that’s about it!

MM.NET: What kind of workout do you do and how much time do you spend on training and keeping in shape?

MM: It’s hard to get in good workouts while you are on the road, so you have to be creative. When I’m at home, I love to run with my dog. On the road, I do a lot of stairs, run outside, train weights when possible and workout in the ring!

MM.NET: If someone were to go through your iPod, what songs would they find?

MM: Oh goodness….everything from alternative to country, rock to Christian, old school, etc…

MM.NET: What was your initial reaction when you made the November cover of WWE Magazine, front and center with Candice Michelle and Kelly Kelly, and how did your friends and family react to your first magazine cover?

MM: WOW, that was amazing. I had no idea that we were going to be on the cover. I was actually in the hospital when it came out, but I had some friends/family bring me copies. They all loved it as much as I did!

MM.NET: Do you consider yourself a sex symbol?

MM: Nope, not at all. Don’t get me wrong, that’s an awesome compliment, but I’m not sure I’ve ever been considered one???

MM.NET: The current travel schedule for the WWE is pretty tough. Wrestlers are not only working the weekly television show but also several house shows and the WWE are increasing the number of overseas tours. Many wrestlers can handle the travel schedule but some, like Brock Lesnar, have found the schedule to be too demanding. How do you cope with life on the road, who were your road buddies and did you have any favorite cities that you loved to perform in?

MM: Life on the road can be very tough. We are with our co-workers more than our own families. That’s why we truly are like family. There are many guys and girls that I am extremely close to that make life on the road a lot easier.

MM.NET: How would you like to be remembered by wrestling fans?

MM: As good-hearted, all-American girl who always smiled and gave her best!

MM.NET: Any message that you would like to send out to everyone reading this interview?

MM: Just the normal….I love each and every one of you and it’s you guys who make this job possible!

Be sure to catch Michelle in action every Friday night on The CW’s WWE Smackdown… but don’t be too surprised if she starts showing up on The USA Network’s WWE RAW, as many have already picked Michelle as their wildcard Diva to be drafted this Monday night! For more all of the latest career updates, as well as outstanding photo archives, be sure to check out WWE.com and MichelleMcCool.net for more!
